X-ray Technologist
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides radiologic images as directed by the physician, nurse, or other clinician, maintains radiology equipment and supplies, and assists physicians and clinical staff as needed..
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Patient Services:
- Greets patients and escorts them from the exam room to the radiology department
- Prepares patients for x-ray by positioning them in such a way that causes the least discomfort; instructs patient about how to position their body appropriately, hold their breath, etc.
- Obtains clear images of the anatomy requested by the physician using appropriate safety precautions, while wearing protective equipment and radiation dosimeter at all times
- Captures, processes, and transmits images according to physician protocol
- Returns patient to the examination room once the x-ray procedure is complete
- Verifies that the encounter form has been marked appropriately prior to performing the x-ray examination
Radiologic Preparation and Equipment Maintenance
- Receives outside exams as they are delivered to the practice and imports them into the PACS system
- Transfers images to a disc in the event they are needed outside the office
- Takes radiology stock inventory and communicates supply shortages to the manager
- Ensures radiology equipment is in good working order and communicate any maintenance issues to radiology manager
- High school diploma
- Successful completion of an accredited radiology program
- Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure required
(ARRT and State of Tennessee)
- Training in orthopedics a plus
