JOB SUMMARY:
Provides radiologic images as directed by the physician, nurse, or other clinician, maintains radiology equipment and supplies, and assists physicians and clinical staff as needed..

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Patient Services:

  • Greets patients and escorts them from the exam room to the radiology department
  • Prepares patients for x-ray by positioning them in such a way that causes the least discomfort; instructs patient about how to position their body appropriately, hold their breath, etc.
  • Obtains clear images of the anatomy requested by the physician using appropriate safety precautions, while wearing protective equipment and radiation dosimeter at all times
  • Captures, processes, and transmits images according to physician protocol 
  • Returns patient to the examination room once the x-ray procedure is complete
  • Verifies that the encounter form has been marked appropriately prior to performing the x-ray examination

Radiologic Preparation and Equipment Maintenance

  • Receives outside exams as they are delivered to the practice and imports them into the PACS system
  • Transfers images to a disc in the event they are needed outside the office
  • Takes radiology stock inventory and communicates supply shortages to the manager
  • Ensures radiology equipment is in good working order and communicate any maintenance issues to radiology manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma
  • Successful completion of an accredited radiology program
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure required  (ARRT and State of Tennessee) 
  • Training in orthopedics a plus
