2019 Equity Research Associate

The Research Associate will work directly alongside a senior analyst in an industry-focused team responsible for evaluating investments in companies globally.

Primary responsibilities include:

Researching, analyzing, and performing due diligence on potential investments
Monitoring portfolio investments, competitors, and industry developments
Building and maintaining financial and valuation models
Engaging with company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts
Creating investment-related presentation materials

We regularly host Fortune Global 500 executives at our offices in San Francisco.

This is a two to four year position, after which most individuals enroll in business school. Research Associates have gone on to attend business schools including Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, Chicago and Columbia.


Dodge & Cox targets candidates with high levels of academic and professional achievement and leadership ability.

Candidates should have:

An undergraduate experience that demonstrates exceptional potential
B.A. or B.S. degree and an excellent academic record from a top university
Basic accounting knowledge; coursework in economics and statistics is a plus
Demonstrated interest in financial markets and value investing
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with financial modeling
Initiative and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication skills and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
