Environmental Specialist 1

Environmental Specialist 1
Bachelor's degree in an environmental protection or related science area;
OR
Two (2) years of professional-level environmental protection experience.
AND
Basic computer skills with proficiency in Word and exposure to Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to gain a complete understanding of the environmental regulatory process and procedures.
Good communication and human relations skills to interact effectively with stakeholders and team members.
Problem solving skills for resolving technical matters and the ability to bring projects to conclusion.
Ability to travel up to 40%

Preferred Qualifications:
An understanding of state and federal environmental water quality laws, rules, and regulations. Previous experience with the NPDES program, permit requirements, inspections, compliance determinations, and enforcement requirements for construction stormwater and MS4 sites.
Experience with other MPCA compliance and enforcement programs and/or permit programs. Knowledge of and familiarity with stormwater regulations, erosion prevention/sediment control Best Management Practices (BMPs), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and the mission and goals of the Construction Stormwater Program. Experience conducting construction stormwater SWPPP reviews and MS4 stormwater pollution program audits.
Effective public speaking and presentation skills.
