Job Summary

Job Summary
This position works in the MPCA’s Remediation Division (Petroleum Remediation and Redevelopment). The principal responsibilities of the position include managing petroleum release sites in the Petroleum Remediation Program (PRP). This involves ensuring that responsible parties and volunteers perform adequate investigations and cleanups of petroleum tank releases in order to protect human health and the environment, conducting enforcement as needed to ensure this occurs. 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an environmental protection or related science area;
  • OR
  • Two (2) years of professional-level environmental protection experience.
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Word and exposure to Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good communication and human relations skills to interact effectively with stakeholders and team members.
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
· Experience in petroleum remediation site environmental investigations and cleanup.
· Experience with public communications efforts on health or environmental projects.
· Technical writing skills.
· Knowledge of the overall state and federal environmental regulatory framework related to environmental investigations and cleanup of contaminated properties

Physical Requirements:

Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking around at remediation sites and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
