MDOT Southwest Region Electrician
This position functions as the Region Electrician and crew leader for the Southwest Region. Position is responsible for the maintenance of all electronic traffic control devices and electrical equipment for the Region. This position performs work independently, or as part of an electrician work group, to address the state trunkline electrical needs within the Region. This position serves as the Licensed Master Electrician on the job site and has the ability to obtain permits as required by law. Responsibilities of this position include installing, repairing, inspecting and performing routine and emergency maintenance on traffic signals, freeway lighting, MDOT facilities, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and related electronic equipment. This position may inspect the work of contractors hired by MDOT to install signals, ITS equipment and freeway lighting to ensure that all work conforms to specifications and to the electrical code as regulated by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and accept contracted work.
Required Education and Experience
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
One year of electrical trade experience equivalent to an Electrician Master Licensed E10.
Additional Requirements and Information
Possession of a master electrician's license.
Some positions may require possession of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle.
