Student Internship (paid) - Park Ranger/Guide
These positions are being filled under the Pathways Internship Program which is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school. Incumbent will need to be able to provide proof of enrollment in an education institution for spring 2018.
Incumbent will work with Interpretation staff as a member of the Resource Education & Visitor Services Division. They will be responsible for staffing visitor entry and information desk, answers visitors questions, explains regulations, provides information, presents talks and leads tours relating to natural/cultural aspects of the park, operates the cooperating association bookstore (makes sales, assists with inventory stock, and keeps display area stocked and neat.) Assists volunteers and Student Conservation Association interns in the preparation of interpretive programs, completes forms for lost and found, takes reservations, keeps records on visitor statistics, operates and maintains audio-visual and other interpretive equipment. Other duties may include issuing Interagency passes, assisting with basic emergency response, as needed, performing roving contact, assisting with special events planning and activities, working on the parks website.
