Care Department Director

This position is responsible for the oversight and management of the day to day activities of the front line staff and their supervisors in the delivery of high-quality care services to the residents of The Commons. Fostering teamwork, this position is instrumental in providing mentoring, training, education, coaching, counseling, and coordination for their staff. This position is also responsible for participating in a CORE leadership capacity; duties include decision making, problem-solving, management, and on-going policy changes.

This position will be scheduled Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and a part of the 6-week On-call rotation. Some evenings, weekends, and overnights may be required as part of the On-call duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Employee must have regular attendance/punctuality, be able to cooperate with others, and be completely honest. Other assigned duties include:
1. Hiring and managing shift supervisors and indirectly managing personal care staff with responsibilities including: leading, coaching, mentoring, teaching, behavior modeling, overseeing performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, etc.
2. Resolving staff and/or resident issues and concerns.
3. Managing equipment use, including resident response system, pagers, radios, phones, computers (including purchases, repair, and technical support).
4. Analyzing department revenues and spending to ensure appropriate utilization of budgeted funds.
5. Scheduling supervision and staff as appropriate to maintain an adequate level of resident care and monitoring overtime usage in order to stay on budget.
6. Collaborating with the Nurse and Director and staff to maintain a high level of care for residents and utilizing the client database management system.
7. Conducting interviews and coordinating all aspects of the hiring process; and training the applicable subordinates to do the same.
8. Processing UltiPro for all staff and submitted to the Human Resource department in a timely manner.
9. Monitoring shift change reports and coaching shift supervisors on how to provide an atmosphere of teaching and learning.
10. Monitoring and ensuring each employee has adequate orientation and training as required per program and licensing requirements.
11. Participating in worker’s compensation case management review.
12. Participating in daily operations such as reviewing program design and/or concerns.
13. Problem resolution and follow up as required.
14. Investigate resident occurrences as requested.
15. Participating in The Fountains CORE Management Team for program and staff development.
16. Represent The Fountains on the Extended Leadership Team.
17. Performing on-call duties on a rotating basis (maybe varied hours as well on the occasional weekend).
18. Fill in for staff on the floor during a staffing crisis (may involve providing direct care to residents and passing medications).
19. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for supervising the entire Care Department which includes directly supervising the Care Managers, the Care Supervisors, and Case Aides and indirectly supervising all Care Specialists.
