Production Editor

As a Production Editor within the Production team, much of your time will be spent managing projects to their best possible outcome, proofing and approving work of internal and external production services, as well as preparing and configuring draft content for print, digital and multimedia deliverables. You will also perform some copyediting and photo research.

In a typical work week, a Production Editor ...

  • drives programs to completion, managing and leading moderate to largely complex, cross-departmental courseware programs from creative discovery through execution/production
  • identifies, initiates and monitors project deliverables, work breakdown structures, milestones, role/responsibilities, timelines, required work, and risks
  • prepares draft content for print, digital and multimedia production
  • directs proofing stages, reviewing all phases of print, digital and multimedia iterative proofs and assuring appropriate quality at all stages relative to cost and time constraints
  • manages internal and external customer expectations through timely, accurate reporting and transparency of project plan

A successful Production Editor possesses the following:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in English, writing, education, communications, instructional design, project management, or journalism, with coursework in digital media or computer science)
  • 2-5 years' experience in creative project management, including the management of multiple complex print, digital and multimedia projects
  • Eagerness to learn new skills, embrace new technologies, and stay current on ed tech trends
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Keen attention to detail and strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask with minimal oversight
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop and project management tools
