Director of Human Resources

The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for Director of Human Resources at the Hogan Administrative Center beginning July 1, 2021.

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the planning, organizing, recruiting, hiring, and ongoing compliance requirements of all personnel in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations, as well as District policies and procedures in order to provide the best possible educational and support services within the financial resources available. The Director of Human Resources is the primary resource person for all personnel matters.

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Recruited by: Superintendent, Executive Director of Business Services
Salary: Set annually by the Board of Education/Superintendent
Length of Contract: 12/24 months 

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Executive Director of Business Services
Coordinates with: Executive Director of Business Services and Associate Superintendent/Instruction
Supervises Directly: Human Resources Department staff

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Required experience and training:
Master’s Degree in School Administration, Human Resources, or related field
Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in education and/or human resources administration
SHRM certification or willing to obtain within two (2) years of employment

B. Preferred experience and training:
Education beyond Master’s Degree
Administrator level licensure with the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction

C. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Mindset:
Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent problem solving and organizational skills; proven leadership skills; exceptional attention to detail; thorough knowledge of the administration of public education; ability to provide effective leadership to administrators and staff; ability to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates; ability to successfully supervise the work of others; strong technology, process improvement, and strategic thinking skills; comprehensive knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations as well as district policies and procedures; experience in human resource management; thorough knowledge of school operations.
