Nexus Glen Lake is looking for a motivated Youth and Family Therapist to assess clients and families for trauma-informed treatment, develop individual treatment plans in collaboration with the client, family, and interdisciplinary treatment team and conduct clinically sound individual, group, and family therapy and provide education to clients and their families.

As a Therapist for youth and families, you will play a key role in the growth and success of our clients. Responsibilities include:

·         Using observation, assessment tools and other effective diagnostic and therapeutic interviewing strategies, conduct client and family assessments for use in developing treatment plans and strategies.

·         While applying the concepts of individual, group process, and family systems principles, provides individual, group, and family therapy services and education to clients and their families.

·         Provide additional support services where needed (court testimony, floor coverage, coordinating with referral agents, etc).

·         Facilitate and/or mentor coworkers as necessary, in the implementation of treatment plans and provision of trauma informed therapeutic services to clients.

·         Monitor milieu and collaborate with coworkers to ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment for clients that is also positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic displaying interventions using trauma informed and family involvement principles.

·         Actively participate in the discharge planning for the clients. 

·         The ideal candidate will have clear communication skills, a spirit of flexibility, demonstrated problem resolution skills and the ability to handle emergency or crisis situations using sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and an ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships and appropriate boundaries with clients, families, and employees.  

QUALIFICATIONS (required unless otherwise noted)

·         Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or clinically-related field.

·         Minnesota clinical licensure required, such as LMFT, LICSW, LPC, LP or equivalent state designation for a licensed mental health professional in a clinical field;

·         Minimum 2 years adolescent counseling and/or residential experience strongly preferred.

·         Prior experience working with families and trauma exposed children and adolescents preferred.

·         Remains current on all required training and certifications.

·         Ability to assist staff in proper restraining of clients, lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assistance, and twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a residential program; acuity required for phone coverage and greeting visitors; and reaching, bending, twisting and stretching conducive to an office environment.
