Clinical Nurse Coordinator (RN) - Emergency Department - Full-time Rotate - Chestertown

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

 

  1. Works in collaboration with Managers, Administrative Supervisor and staffing office to assure that site/service is staffed with appropriate mix and numbers to meet customer needs.

  2. Makes rounds on all patients, especially high risk or complex patients such as those with restraints, epidurals, etc.

  3. Ensures accuracy in the medication process, including transport, storage, security, and/or administration of medications to include IV solutions.

  4. Provides ongoing communication to the team on management issues and goals; communicates with customers and interdisciplinary team members regarding customer, staff, management, and quality care issues.

  5. Identifies patient or environmental urgent/non-urgent situations and actively participates in problem resolution.

  6. Provides input into capital and operational budgets for the site/service. Assists manager in monitoring and managing budget; analyzes variances and takes appropriate action; develops plan for productivity improvement; monitors daily consumption of supplies; works within budget.

  7. Facilitates unit(s) level performance improvement activities, including data collection in collaboration with the nurse manager.

  8. Serves as a clinical resource/educator to facilitate the development of licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel in collaboration with the Manager and Shore Health Institute of Nursing Science.

  9. Participates in interviewing, hiring, and performance evaluation of staff for site/service.

  10. Ensures consistent application of all hospital rules and regulations. Participates in the development and implementation of nursing care policies, procedures, and standards.

  11. Active member on hospital/system/community committees, as appropriate; determines with the manager the structure of site/service committees; provides leadership to committees, as appropriate. Encourages staff participation on unit-based teams.

  12. Seeks and supports opportunities for professional growth and development.

  13. Offers support and feedback to peers. Applies principles of caring and healing in interaction with patients and families and with colleagues.

  14. Serves as coach and mentor for less experienced colleagues.

  15. Offers consistent and visible support to team members.

  16. Professional standards and current research/evidence-based practice drive decision-making.

  17. Participates in unit-based shared leadership.

  18. Responds to the following Shore Health System codes: Code Red (in the immediate area), Code Pink (when called), Code Yellow (when called), Code Green (if needed), Code Yellow (if needed).

  19. Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the CARE Manual.

  20. Responsible for honest behavior in all matters. To the best of the employee’s knowledge and understanding, complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations.

  21. Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.

  22. Performs related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current RN Licensure

  • BSN preferred

  • 3-5 years of Emergency Department RN experience required

  • Understanding of current nursing practice trends

  • Knowledge in the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological stages of human growth and development
