Play a vital role in the health care/ direct services field as a DSP for a nation-wide, non-profit organization in Coon Rapids that provides innovative supportive services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities as well as mental illness. We are looking for person-centered, team oriented DSPs who have a passion for helping individuals with disabilities make meaningful choices and live independently.
Direct Support Professional responsibilities include:
- Assist individuals in residential settings with achievement of personal life goals and desires, spiritual life support, and interactions/ activities that support independence and meaningful choices
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure the implementation of client support plans
- Reliably follow procedures to ensure each person's safety and health
- Assist with cooking, cleaning, shopping and other household duties
- Complete computer documentation according to company policies
- Assist with night time/ overnight responsibilities and routines
- Serve as an advocate for client rights, dignity and respect
- Ensure the cleanliness, safety and security of the home
Direct Support Professional requirements:
- High School Diploma/ GED
- must have current CPR / First Aid Certification
- valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
- ability to bend, lift and stand for long periods of time
- related education or experience in mental health, behavioral health, health care OR experience working in a group home or residential facility
