Independant Living Skills Worker

Independent Living Skills Workers (ILS)
Are you passionate about supporting others to achieve their goals and make meaningful choices? As an ILS Worker, you would be responsible for supporting and guiding up to 16 adult men and women with mental illness in a Saint Paul residential treatment program. The ideal Independent Living Skills Worker is someone who is committed to service, organized, communicative, and resourceful.

Independent Living Skills Worker key responsibilities:

  • Overnight candidates must be able to provide supportive services during night hours and assist with bedtime/ morning routines
  • Support clients with daily living activities including assisting with meal preparation and household management
  • Offer support and guidance to clients experiencing mental illness, with the goal of recovery and stabilization
  • Perform accurate documentation and record keeping for residential treatment plans and goals
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and help residents to access community resources
  • Assist residents with medication administration and some personal cares

Job Requirements

Independent Living Skills Worker requirements:

  • Minimum of 21 years of age    
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • CPR/ First Aid and Medication Administration are preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required for evening hours and preferred for overnight hours
  • 2000 hours of experience working directly with Severe Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) or Chemical Dependence (CD) clients
