Vocational Counselor

Vocational Counselor . . . reach out and demonstrate your passion for providing excellent client-focused care as a Vocational Counselor with a caring Hopkins nonprofit organization. The organization is dedicated to assisting adults with disabilities by supporting vocational opportunities and encouraging clients to make meaningful choices and meet personal goals. The Vocational Counselor will work Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and earn $13/Hour+.



Vocational Counselor tasks include:

  • Accompany clients to community outings
  • Support clients with activities of daily living
  • Create accurate and timely documentation
  • Assist with one-on-one vocational counseling
  • Abide by HIPAA and relevant state guidelines
  • Remain up to date with internal policies and procedures
  • Use redirection and de-escalation techniques as needed for client safety
  • Support client independence through gentle coaching, resource gathering, and assisting with vocational skills and educational goals

Job Requirements

Vocational Counselor requirements:

  • 18+ years of age
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, and lift
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and valid car insurance
  • At least 6 months professional experience working in day programs, residential homes, or group homes, with physically/intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals, AND/OR a degree in a related field
